Nkoueleue Claims Singles Title At North Florida Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ? The final of competition concluded at the North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville with Emmanuel Nkoueleue claiming the singles “A” title. Two Eagles tandems fell in the final rounds of competition.
Lone senior Nkoueleue, of Douala, Cameroon, claimed flight “A” singles title after quickly downing opponent Marc Abdelnour, the four seed from FAU. Nkoueleue defeated Abdelnour in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
Two Eagles doubles tandems competed in the finals Sunday morning against FAU opponents; both matches coming down to the last serve. Nkoueleue teamed with Borja Malet to face Abdelnour/Joe Cadogan. The Eagles fell in a tough tiebreak, 9-7, in flight “A”. Doubles “B” saw Gregory Bekkers/Joris De Weerdt fall in a hard fought match to Eddie Majcher/Karol Szmurlo, 9-7.
The Eagles continue action in the ITA Southeast Regional in Lexington, Ky., beginning October 18.
