Eagles Conclude Day Two of the North Florida Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ? The Georgia Southern women's tennis team served up several victories in the second day of the North Florida Invitational held in Jacksonville, Fla.
Eagles freshman Melanie Rolle (Gainesville, Fla.) breezed by Katherine Nowicki of Stetson 7-5, 6-0 to move onto the semifinal round of “A” singles consolation. Rolle will face Vanessa Sanchez from host school North Florida on Sunday, with a chance to move into the finals.
Molly Maddox (Rome, Ga.) continued her dominance in the “B” singles division defeating Maria Melihova of North Florida by a score of 7-5, 6-4. Maddox eventually fell in the semifinal round to Stephanie Vieira of Troy. Vieira is the No.1 overall seed in “B” singles draws.
In “C” singles draws, both Kelli Helms (Cairo, Ga.) and Shea Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla. Were defeated in their quarterfinal matches. Helms was beaten 6-1, 6-2 by Lina Xu of Jacksonville, while Huxtable fell in three sets 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 to Karen Bellman from Mercer.
Georgia Southern's doubles tandem of Christine Caforio (Acworth, Ga.) and Kristi Kegerreis (Fairfax, Va.) lost in the semifinal round of “A” doubles play on Saturday. Caforio and Kegerreis were defeated 8-4 by Troy's Annabelle Bares and Leonie Guit.
Tomorrow the doubles team consisted of Ali Beavers (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Rolle will compete for their chance to advance to the “A” doubles consolation championship. The duo will face off in the final day as will the rest of the Eagles at the North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. Matches are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
