Eagles Into Finals After Second Day of North Florida Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ? Day two of the North Florida Invitational saw two Eagles tandems and one singles competitor advance to final rounds. Emmanuel Nkoueleue sailed through competition in flight “A”, advancing to the final round of both singles and doubles.
Nkoueleue placed victories over Charlie Ramsey (Memphis) and Eduardo Pereira (UNF) to face Marc Abdelnour (FAU) in the singles final round, to take place Sunday morning. Nkoueleue surpassed Ramsey in the quarterfinal round, 6-3, 7-5, before cruising past Pereira in the semifinals, 6-2, 6-3. Nkoueleue will face Abdelnour in both singles and doubles on Sunday. Despite taking the first set from Javier Ferrin, Borja Malet dropped the next two sets, falling, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6, in the quarterfinals of flight “A”.
Nkoueleue/Malet will face Abdelnour/Joe Cadogan (FAU) in the “A” doubles finals Sunday after downing Jordi Ballester/Victor Vaz (JU) in the semifinals, 8-4. In flight “B”, Gregory Bekkers/Joris De Weerdt also advanced to the final round. The Eagles tandem swept Guilherme Sahadhi/Marko Zivkovic (Troy), 8-0, in the semifinals. Bekkers/De Weerdt will take on Eddie Majcher/Karol Szmurio (FAU) Sunday in the finals. Mark Paetz/Phillip Prins fell in flight “C” semifinals to Lawrence Harradine/Daniel Vardag (FAU), 8-4.
The final day of competition will commence Sunday morning at 8 am with the doubles finals first, followed by singles action in the afternoon.
