STATESBORO, Ga. ? The Georgia Southern men's soccer squad will continue a tough three-game road trip facing Clemson, Tuesday. The fifth meeting between the two clubs is slated for 7 p.m. at Riggs Field.
Georgia Southern (4-6-0) and Atlantic Coast Conference foe Clemson (3-4-1) have met on four occasions with the Tigers claiming a 3-0-1 advantage. The last time the two schools met was in 1997 at Clemson with the game ending in a 0-0 deadlock.
The Eagles are coming off a 4-0 loss to No. 25 Furman (Sep. 29) in Greenville, S.C. The Tigers recently fell to ACC opponent Duke (Sep. 28) by a 4-2 margin and are experiencing a four-game winless streak.
Georgia Southern is led by Daniel Smith (Marietta, Ga.) on offense with two goals and a team-best three assists. Luigi Clendening (Augusta, Ga.) follows with two goals and two assists, while leading the squad with 13 shots. Josh Veal (Lilburn, Ga.) has spent the last two games in goal for the Eagles, facing 25 shots, making six saves and claiming a 1-1 record.
The Tigers are captained by head coach Trevor Adair and are led on offense by Tate Parrish with six points, including four assists and one goal. He is followed by David Newton with two goals and one helper. Goalkeeper Joseph Bendik has spent the full eight games in the cage for the Tigers.
