Ross Kessler is in his first season on the Georgia Southern volleyball staff. His responsibilities include film breakdown, film exchange, practice planning, day-to-day operations and recruiting.

Kessler spent last season as a volunteer assistant coach at Kentucky. The Wildcats went 27-6 overall and finished second in the SEC with a 15-3 mark. They were ranked in the top-25 all season, climbing to as high as 12th before finishing 17th.

A three-time state champion for Trinity High School in Louisville, Kessler has been coaching at the collegiate and club level since he was a freshman at Butler University in 2005.

He spent two seasons coaching for the Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Association's 18 team. As an assistant coach in 2014, he guided the squad to a third-place finish at the 2014 AAU National Championships.

Kessler began his coaching career as a student at Butler University. As a freshman in 2005, he was one of two co-founders of the Women's Club Volleyball Program. He was elected head coach of the team and built the program from a team of nine girls to a three-team program which competes on the national stage.

In addition to his duties with the club program, where he was head coach for four years, Kessler served as a student assistant coach with the Butler women's volleyball team for two seasons.

Kessler also competed for the Butler University men's club volleyball team in each of his four years in Indianapolis and was elected president at the end of his freshman year. He was the team's starting setter for four years.

At Trinity High School, Kessler competed on the varsity squad from 2003-05 and helped the team win three KHSAA state titles. The squad also competed in tournaments across the Ohio Valley Region, playing against programs from Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

Kessler also played for the Mid America Volleyball Association while in high school. As a member of the 16's, 17's and 18's teams, he competed at the Junior Olympic National Tournament.

A graduate of Butler University in 2009 with a degree in economics, Kessler earned a Master's of Business Administration from Bellarmine University in 2011.
