Keegan Smith

Keegan Smith joined Georgia Southern Athletics in 2023 as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach. His primary responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of the strength and conditioning development for Softball and Volleyball. He originally came to Georgia Southern as the Strength & Conditioning Coach for Women’s Basketball, Women’s Tennis, and Rifle. Smith was a part of the 2024 rifle team that won the SoCon championship and included multiple All-Americans. He was also a part of the 2025 Women’s Basketball team that saw its first season with multiple wins at the Sun Belt Conference tournament in program history.  

Prior to Georgia Southern, Smith spent 2022-2023 at Longwood University where he oversaw Women’s Basketball, Softball, & Women’s Lacrosse. Smith was a part of the softball team that won the 2023 Big South Regular Season Championship. That team included a golden glove winner, as well as conference player of the year.   Smith also helped develop the Big South Lacrosse Freshman of the Year in 2023.  

In 2021-2022 Smith spent his time at Louisiana Tech University where he oversaw Softball and Track & Field. The Lady Techsters Softball team won the 2022 C-USA regular season championship, and that team also included the C-USA freshman of the year.  While at LATech, Smith also assisted the men and women’s basketball teams in their performance training.

In 2019-2021 Smith was a Graduate Assistant with the Jacksonville State Strength & Conditioning department. His responsibilities included serving as an assistant strength coach with the football team, as well as leading the charge for Women’s Soccer, Tennis, and Track & Field. Smith was a part of the 2021 OVC Champion Gamecock football team.

Smith began his career as a student intern in 2018-2019 with Alabama Football. Smith interned under the famous Scott Cochran and helped train a team that consisted of multiple future NFL players. Smith was a part of the 2018 Alabama football team that won the SEC and played in the national championship game.

Smith holds an undergrad degree in Exercise Science from the University of Alabama, as well as a master’s degree in Sports Management from Jacksonville State University.   He is also CSCS certified through the NSCA. Â
