Coach Dave Gendernalik comes to Statesboro from Dexter Community Aquatic Club after serving as head coach since 2006. In 2010 DCAC was recognized by USA swimming as top age group program and invited Coach Gendernalik to Colorado Springs to participate in the National Age Group Swimming conference at the Olympic Training Center.

In 2022-23, he served as the interim head coach during a transition period prior to new coach Allyson Sweeney coming aboard during the early portion of the season. At the CCS Championships, two school records were set, 29 season bests were posted, eight top-five marks were made and 26 personal bests were recorded.

His swimmers have achieved sectional, futures and junior national time standards during his tenure. Throughout his career he has placed swimmers on NCAA programs at all three divisions.

Dave is an American Swim Coaches Association certified level 3 coach. He was a member of the runner up 1999 Class B Michigan State Champions and NISCA Class 2 Dual Meet National Champions for the Lakeview High School Spartans. Gendernalik graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in marketing.
