Dr. Jenna Tomalski

Dr. Jenna Tomalski (she/her/hers) is a staff psychologist at Georgia Southern's Counseling Center and is embedded within Athletics. Within her role, Dr. Jenna provides counseling and psychological services to student-athletes, closely collaborating with members of the Counseling Center and Athletic Department to help ensure comprehensive care for student-athletes. She is passionate about destigmatizing mental health concerns and increasing accessibility of treatment and support.

Trained as a generalist, Dr. Jenna received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas, where she also had the opportunity to gain specialized training and experience in Sport Psychology. During her years at North Texas, Dr. Jenna provided mental health and performance services for individual student-athletes and athletic teams, while supporting coaches, sports medicine personnel, and athletes within the broader community. She also earned certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).

Prior to North Texas, Dr. Jenna received her masters degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with a concentration in Sport and Exercise Psychology. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she double majored in Psychology and Exercise and Sport Science. 

Dr. Jenna enjoys supporting student-athletes presenting with a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, trauma, identity development/exploration, relationship concerns, sport injury rehabilitation, and body image issues. Her approach to counseling is collaborative in nature, and she strives to empower student-athletes to take an active role in the counseling process. Primarily, Dr. Jenna's work is informed from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy lens; however, she thoughtfully integrates perspectives and techniques from other theoretical frameworks to best fit student-athletes’ needs based on their unique identities and experiences.
