2022-23: Played in three games, starting two … Was on the field for 16 total snaps … Saw his first collegiate action at Louisiana when pressed into duty due to an injury to starter Mark Langston … Responded with five snaps on punts, field goals and PATs … Also had a tackle on punt coverage … Was injured against Marshall after his fourth snaps and missed the finale against App State … Snapped seven times in the Camellia Bowl against Buffalo … Made the Dean’s List in the fall for posting a GPA higher than 3.50 … Named to the 2022-23 Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll for maintaining a 3.00-3.49 GPA.
2021-22: Did not see any game action … Was redshirted … Served as the backup long snapper for all three units.
2020-21: Did not see any game action during the COVID season … Made the Dean’s List in the fall for posting a 3.50 GPA or higher … Made the Honor Roll in the spring for posting above a 3.00 GPA.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Coach Jeff Littleton at Bainbridge High … Named first-team all-region as a senior as a multi-purpose offensive player … Helped lead his team to a Class 5A state title in 2018 … Also played golf … A member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Born Jackson Clay Wheeler on February 3 in Bainbridge, GA … Son of Tom and Libby Wheeler … Father played tight end at Florida State, as well as professionally … Has a brother, Russell.
