2025-26: Played in four games at North Carolina, starting one … Completed 62.1% of his passes for 432 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions … Transferred to Georgia Southern in January.
2024-25: Suffered a season-ending injury in the season opener against Minnesota … Had 12 completions and rushed for a touchdown to lift the Tar Heels to the victory against the Gophers.

2022-23: Started three of four games he appeared in, including two starts were top 15 ranked wins against No. 13 Miami and No. 10 Arkansas in back-to-back weeks before his season was cut short due to injury … Was redshirted … Completed 3 of 4 passes for 23 yards, while rushing for 11 yards in his Aggie debut against Sam Houston … Made his first start of the season against Miami, connecting on 10 of 20 passes for 140 yards and one scoring pass … Threw for 151 yards on 11-of-21 passing, connecting on one touchdown pass, and rushed for 48 yards in the win over Arkansas … Registered 203 yards on 19-of-26 passing and one score at Mississippi State, before suffering a season-ending injury … Won the team Offensive Attitude Award.

2020-21: Appeared in six games, starting twice … Connected on 88 of 150 passes for 1,069 yards, eight touchdowns and only one interception, adding 119 rushing yards and a pair of scores … Took over the starting quarterback duties for the Tigers in Week 9 against Florida and rallied LSU to back-to-back wins over the Gators and Ole Miss to close out the season … Was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the win over No. 6 Florida in Gainesville in what was his first career start, completing 21-of-36 passes for 239 yards and three TDs while also adding another 52 rushing yards … Completed 27 of 51 passes for 435 yards and three TDs in the win over Ole Miss, adding 45 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns … Made his college debut against South Carolina, rushing twice for 19 yards.

PERSONAL: Born Maximus Johnson on April 20 in Tallahassee, FL … The son of Brad and Nikki Johnson … Father, Brad, played quarterback at Florida State and then was the starting quarterback in Tampa Bay’s win over Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII … Mom, Nikki, was a standout volleyball player at South Florida, setting school record for kills (1,726), digs (1,462) and hitting percentage (.303) during her career … Is the nephew of former Georgia and Miami head coach Mark Richt.
