Biography

JUNIOR (2012): Intense player who shifts into another gear when he is on the field… Should adapt well to outside linebacker spot where his speed and agility can have a bigger impact for the Eagles… Brings 2012 experience of nine starts at Mike linebacker and expected to contend for starting job at Will … Top returning tackler on the team with 51 (28u, 23a)… Recorded most tackles for loss, 5.0, by an Eagle linebacker in 2012… Earned third letter in 2012, playing in 10 games and starting nine… Had eight tackles for Blue team in spring game…Recorded first double-digit total and career-best 11 tackles (3u, 8a) in Wofford win, seven (3u, 4a) coming in second half… Had big stops on back-to-back plays inside the GSU 10 with tackle for loss (-4) on 3rd and seven to force Terriers to settle for second field goal… Tallied eight total tackles vs. Howard (4u, 4a) including a tackle for loss… Posted season-high four solo tackles three other times vs. Elon, Central Arkansas and Old Dominion… Prevented Central Arkansas from scoring in second quarter on 4th and goal with coverage on pass play… Totaled six tackles (4u, 2a) versus Bears… Added three assisted tackles vs. Elon for seven total and did not allow any gain on four of those plays… Went in for sack of ODU’s Taylor Heinicke after teammate Dion DuBose flushed Monarch quarterback out of pocket… Had three other solo tackles in that playoff win…Registered four total tackles against Western Carolina (3u, 1a), Furman (2u, 2a) and Chattanooga (2u, 2a)… Total at Chattanooga included solo tackle for loss in fourth quarter and solo for no gain in first overtime…Posted a 3.25 grade point average in spring 2013, one of 31 members of the Eagle Football team with GPAs of 3.0 or above.

SOPHOMORE (2011): Played in 14 games with two starts at Alabama (11/19) and North Dakota State (12/17)... Made 34 stops and two tackles for loss on the year... Opened the season with four tackles at Samford (9/3)... Posted back-to-back five tackle games against Wofford (11/12) and the Crimson Tide... Ended the seasons with a season-high nine tackles against the Bison... Started at outside linebacker for the Blue team in the spring game... Finished second on the team to Brent Russell with seven tackles and one sack.

REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2010): Shared top tackler honors for Savannah State game with Brent Russell as each had five... picked up a solo tackle and an assist at Navy... made first career start against Coastal Carolina and had 8-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown, both career firsts, against Coastal Carolina late in the game helped Eagles secure win... made first career start in game against the Chanticleers... recorded big special teams tackle on GSU punt to prevent return in critical fourth quarter against Coastal Carolina... picked up loose ball after Coastal QB Zach McDowell forced backwards and fumbled for an Eagle touchdown with only 3:20 left in game... had five solo tackles and one assist for six total against Coastal Carolina... credited with one tackle for loss (4 yards) against Chants...played in 12 games.

FRESHMAN (2009): Redshirted.

PREP: Lettered in football and weightlifting... made 115 tackles his senior year, earning First Team All-District and All-Area honors... Third Team All-State... voted captain of football team... played for coach Jay Godwin.

PERSONAL: Born May 24, 1991 in Saranc Lake, N.Y.... No. 1 sports highlight was making 25 tackles his senior year during the Homecoming game... his coach Tim Adams has been a major influence, "He set me in the right direction to succeed."... most admires Scott Pritchett, "He's a great guy who goes out every day with a winning attitude."... enjoys lifting weights, playing X-Box, hanging out with friends and water sports... favorite professional team is Pittsburgh Steelers... lists Linkin Park as favorite music group... son of Thomas and Selma Oehlbeck.
