Department posts record GPA for semester and academic year
STATESBORO - The nearly 400 student-athletes who make up the Georgia Southern Athletics Department earned a department-record 3.25 GPA for the Spring 2026 semester, as announced Friday by director of athletics Chris Davis. The mark breaks the previous semester of a 3.23 GPA set in the Spring 2024 semester. Additionally, the student-athletes finished out the 2025-26 academic year with a 3.26, breaking the 3.2 goal set five years ago.
Four teams broke their previous Spring GPA record: baseball, men's soccer, softball and women's basketball. Thirteen of the 15 programs posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA.
For the semester, softball posted the highest team GPA for the department with a 3.77 and men's tennis had the highest team GPA on the men's side with a 3.60.
For the year, six teams set new academic records: football, baseball, men's basketball, softball, volleyball and women's basketball. Women's tennis had the highest overall team GPA for the year at 3.77 with men's tennis posting the highest men's GPA at 3.48.
Overall, 269 student-athletes earned a place on the honor roll (3.0 or higher). Of that group, 106 made the Dean's List (3.50-3.99) and 66 made the President's List for earning a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.

• Volleyball: 3.63 (34th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
