STATESBORO - George Casper has been promoted to Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance at Georgia Southern, as announced by director of athletics Chris Davis.
Casper began at Georgia Southern in 2024 as the assistant AD for Compliance and came to Statesboro after working at Idaho since 2019, first as a compliance coordinator before moving up to assistant director for NCAA Compliance.
"I am very excited to be stepping into my new role with Georgia Southern," Casper said. "It has been a pleasure to work with all the great staff we have in Statesboro both inside and outside the athletics department. I am appreciative of all those who have helped me get to this point in my career and am happy to have strong support from our leadership in Athletics and the Office of Legal Affairs. I look forward to leading our department's efforts to stay at the forefront of NCAA governance and strategy amid the rapidly shifting landscape of college athletics. Our ability to adapt is key to our effort to continue to provide our student-athletes with a top-notch experience. I will look to make sure we continue to adapt as necessary to be successful across all our programs. Hail Southern!"
"George was extremely impressive throughout the interview process and distinguished himself among a very strong pool of candidates," Davis said. "He earned this opportunity, and I'm excited to have him step into this role. I look forward to working with George as he takes on this new responsibility and helps lead our compliance efforts at Georgia Southern."
At Idaho, Casper's responsibilities included overseeing the entirety of Idaho's NCAA compliance operations for each of the 16 Division I programs. He served as a direct liaison for Idaho's financial aid, student accounts, registrar, and admissions offices on campus. Casper worked directly with over 300+ student-athletes, coaches, staff, and administrators to ensure Idaho Athletics provides the best student-athlete experience possible within the parameters of NCAA Division I rules.
Before Idaho, Casper served as a compliance officer for Alaska Anchorage from August 2018 through October 2019. Casper oversaw the entirety of the compliance operation for the department's 11 Division II sports and two Division I sports (hockey and gymnastics). At Alaska Anchorage Casper gained a well-rounded understanding of NCAA compliance and how to oversee a compliance operation.
From July 2014 through May 2015, Casper served in his first compliance role as a graduate assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi. At Southern Miss, he contributed to the day-to-day operations in the office as well as football game day responsibilities. Casper had great mentors that provided him with a solid foundation of NCAA compliance philosophies and management.Â
Casper earned his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Idaho in 2018 after he earned his Master's in Sports Administration from Southern Miss in 2015. In undergrad, Casper competed for the College of Idaho on the varsity baseball squad. He earned a Bachelor's in Business Administration from COI in 2014.
Casper hails from Pocatello, Idaho.
