THE OPENING TIP
- Georgia Southern men's basketball looks to break out of the funk on Wednesday evening, hosting long-time rival Appalachian State at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center. The Eagles, who have posted a 2-6 record in their last eight contests, will conclude the home portion of the schedule this week, as the Mountaineers and Thundering Herd head to Statesboro. The final two home games are extremely important for the Eagles, as they close the season on a four-game road trip.
- The Eagles final home game of the season on Saturday has been elevated to ESPNU, marking the first time in the history of The Hill that a national audience will see Statesboro in the new arena. Saturday against the Thundering Herd will be the Eagles' senior day, honoring seven guys that have cemented their legacy in Georgia Southern history.
- Senior forward Shainen Carter moved into 11th all-time in a single season for blocks, recording two against Texas State on Wednesday. Carter needs one block over the course of the next six games to move into the top 10, chasing Simeon Carter (2018-19), who recorded 38.
- With the season dwindling down, Georgia Southern men's basketball needs a gut check heading to the final six games of the season. Losing six of their last eight games, the Eagles had the week off after falling to Texas State at The Hill. Georgia Southern sits at 6-6 in the Sun Belt Conference, amongst a log-jam of teams with six losses. Of the remaining six games that the Eagles play, Georgia Southern plays Appalachian State (9-4, twice), Marshall (7-4, twice), Georgia State (6-6), and James Madison (4-8). Four of those six contests will happen on the road, with the final four being consecutive road trips to end the season. The Eagles are one of three teams in the league at the moment with a winning record on the road this season, including a 3-2 record in league play away from home.
- Georgia Southern men's basketball has been one of the more prolific scoring teams in the Sun Belt Conference since joining the league during the 2014-15 season. In the 12 years since the Eagles' arrival, Georgia Southern has posted a 43-3 record when scoring 90-plus points in a game. For the 2025-26 season, the Eagles have secured an 8-0 record when tallying 90-plus points per game.
