
Eagles Fall to Louisiana on Saturday

LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana (7-15, 5-7 SBC) pulled away in the second half and defeated Georgia Southern (14-10, 6-5 SBC), 69-60, Saturday at the Cajundome.
The Eagles, led by Alden Applewhite and Spudd Webb, shot 38.5 percent from the field, as Webb tallied 18 points and Applewhite posted 14. From the stripe, Georgia Southern shot above 80 percent for the fourth time this season, finishing 13-of-15.
The Eagles cut the lead down to six points at one time in the second half, before Louisiana found a way to see shots fall and hold off the Eagles down the stretch. Louisiana registered four Cajuns in double figures, as three of them tallied 15-plus points.
Georgia Southern returns home to the friendly confines of the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center, opening a three-game homestand, the final three at The Hill this season, on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Louisiana opened the scoring with an 8-0 run, before the Eagles converted on four free throws to cut the lead in half, 8-4.
- At the under-eight-minute media timeout, Georgia Southern forced a turnover by the Ragin' Cajuns, as Spudd Webb led the offensive attack with five points, 23-16.
- Tyren Moore knocked down a long three-pointer with a minute and a half left to give Georgia Southern its first lead of the afternoon, 28-27.
- Louisiana opened the second half on an 8-0 run, extending their lead over the first two and a half minutes, 39-31.
- The Ragin' Cajuns used another 7-0 run to grab their largest lead of the afternoon, forcing the Eagles to call a timeout, 50-38.
NOTES
- Scoring 29 points in the first half against the Ragin' Cajuns, Georgia Southern tied its season-low in that department, the lowest since Florida State (11/21).
- Alden Applewhite finished as one of two Eagles in double figures on Saturday afternoon, scoring 14 points in the loss. Applewhite drained a career-high four three pointers on the day.
- Georgia Southern scored a season-low 60 points on Saturday against the Ragin' Cajuns.
