
Moore Scores 26, Eagles Snap Three-Game Skid Friday

GRAMBLING, La. – Tyren Moore scored 26 points and Georgia Southern (14-9, 6-4 SBC) held off ULM (3-19, 0-10 SBC), 79-76, Friday afternoon at Willis Reed Court at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center, home of the Grambling State Tigers. The Eagles and Warhawks moved off of campus for Friday's contest due to the winter weather that affected Northeast Louisiana.
Moore, who made 11-of-12 free throws and hit a key layup in the closing minutes, paced the Eagles against the Warhawks. Spudd Webb added 15 points, going 4-for-4 from the field, and Khayri Dunn scored 12 off the bench in a balanced effort for Georgia Southern.
The Eagles jumped out to a 37-33 lead at the break and extended their advantage in the second half, but ULM rallied behind 21 points from Krystian Lewis and 18 from MJ Russell to stay close throughout the contest. Georgia Southern made 26-of-34 free throws and finished with a 44.4 percent field goal percentage.
The Eagles led by as many as eight in the second half and managed to withstand a late push by the Warhawks, who trimmed the deficit to three points in the final minute. The Eagles' free throw shooting in the final minutes helped secure a hard-fought road victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams traded baskets to begin the contest through the first four minutes of action, as Tyren Moore led the way with four points, 6-6.
- At the under-eight media timeout, Georgia Southern regained the lead as Khayri Dunn knocked down a corner three, 23-21. The Eagles forced the Warhawks into eight turnovers, but were hindered by 10 fouls at the media timeout.
- Georgia Southern used a 6-0 run over the course of a minute and a half to extend their lead to nine points, 35-28.
- At halftime, the Eagles held a four-point lead, forcing the Warhawks into 11 first-half turnovers, 37-33.
- ULM tied the ballgame out of half, scoring five-of-six baskets out of the break, while holding the Eagles to 1-of-7 from the field, 46-46.
- Tyren Moore added a pair at the line, extending the Eagles lead to six, after being fouled hard in the lane, 62-56.
- With less than a minute remaining in the game, Tyren Moore contorted his body and was able to convert on an and-one opportunity to give the Eagles the lead, 77-76, before Spudd Webb knocked down a pair of free throws to seal the game, 79-76.
NOTES
- Senior forward Shainen Carter tallied two blocks in Friday's victory over the Warhawks, moving into a tie for 11th all-time in a single season. His joins Rory Spencer (2010-11) who collected 35 blocks for the Eagles.
- Tyren Moore continued to shine for the Eagles, registering his sixth 20-plus point effort this season, and 18th game in double figures. The Louisville, Kentucky, native collected 26 points on 7-of-15 shooting. He knocked down one three pointer and was 11-of-12 from the charity stripe.
- Along with Moore who tallied 26 points, Georgia Southern's Spudd Webb collected 15 points on 4-for-4 shooting, adding a 7-of-8 line from the stripe. Khayri Dunn rounded out the Eagles in double figures, scoring 12 points with a plus-nine plus/minus.
- In Sun Belt Conference action, Georgia Southern improved to 3-1 on the road this season, defeating Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, and now ULM. The Eagles are also 6-4 on the road to this point, with five of the next eight games coming on the road.
