
Eagles Clipped by Arkansas State Thursday

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern (13-8, 5-3 SBC) men's basketball fell to Arkansas State (13-7, 5-3 SBC), 85-68, on Thursday evening at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center.
The Red Wolves led 39-35 at intermission and outscored the Eagles 46-33 in the second half to secure the victory. Joey Chammaa scored 15 points and Christian Harmon added 13 for Arkansas State, which 49.1 percent from the field and knocked down 10 three-point while making 19-of-23 free throws.
Spudd Webb led Georgia Southern with 14 points, while Nakavieon White added 14 off the bench. Alden Applewhite scored 10 points and Jefferson Koulibaly contributed four. The Eagles made just 5-of-33 attempts from beyond the arch and committed 12 turnovers.
Arkansas State grabbed a rebounding edge, pulling down 42 boards to Georgia Southern's 38, and shot a strong 82.6 percent from the foul line. Georgia Southern was successful on 65.4 percent of its free throws.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arkansas State opened the scoring with the first six points of the game, before Spudd Webb knocked down a three-pointer to cut the lead in half, 6-3.
- Georgia Southern used a 6-0 run, thanks to the driving ability of Nakavieon White, while holding the Red Wolves scoreless over the course of two minutes, 16-16.
- The Red Wolves continued to find points in the paint, converting on 5-of-7 buckets to take a two-point lead heading into the under-four-minute media timeout, 33-31.
- At the half, Georgia Southern saw a five-point deficit after Spudd Webb knocked down a deep three-pointer just before time expired, 39-35.
- The Red Wolves opened the half on a 12-0 run, opening up a 14-point advantage over the Eagles, 57-43.

- Three Eagles scored in double figures on Thursday, as Spudd Webb (14) and Nakavieon White (14) led the charge. Alden Applewhite added 10 points to round out the Eagles scoring.
- Georgia Southern made a season low five three-points against the Red Wolves, shooting 15.2 percent from three.
- Arkansas State outscored the Eagles 37-30 off the bench, while also holding the advantage in rebounding 42-38.
