Team Moves to 21-2 on the season
NCAA SCORECARD
STATESBORO - The sixth-ranked Georgia Southern rifle team continued its winning ways, picking up three victories Sunday over #12 Air Force, The Citadel and The Citadel women, shooting a 4,729 at the Shooting Sports Education Center. The Eagles are now 21-2 on the season.
In smallbore, the Eagles took the top three spots with Bremen Butler shooting a 591 to take first with Emme Walrath taking second with a 590 and Tori Watts shooting a 589 for third place. All three shot perfect 200s in prone.
In air rifle, all seven Eagles shot a 592 or higher as they posted a 2,380 team score. Butler shot her second straight 599 (out of 600) to lead the way and take first place. Matilda Eylander (50x), Watts (43x; 99 last series) and Zahra Gonzalez Mazo (43x; 98 last series) each shot a 594 but Eylander won the first tiebreaker on center shots to earned fifth place. Watts and Gonzalez Mazo both had 43 centers, but Watts took sixth after having a higher final series.
Six Eagles placed in the top 10 of the final aggregate standings. Butler took first with an 1,190, tied for the second-highest score in program history. Walrath and Watts tied for second with a 1,183 but Walrath earned the silver based on more centers. Emma Pohlmann took sixth (1,171), Gonzalez Mazo placed seventh (1,170) and Hailey Singlton finished ninth (1,168).
