
Eagles Fall to Coastal Carolina Saturday

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern men's basketball (13-7, 5-2 SBC) fell to Coastal Carolina (11-9, 4-4 SBC), 79-75 in overtime, ending the Eagles 11-game winning streak at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center.
The Chanticleers got a game-high 28 points from RaSheed Jones, going 8-for-14 from the field and 10-of-11 at the free throw line. AJ Dancler added 20 points and Joshua Beadle scored 18 in a balanced offensive effort that lifted Coastal Carolina past the Eagles.
Georgia Southern was led by Tyren Moore's 34 points, going 12-of-21 and connecting on seven three-pointers, tying a career high in that department. Andres Burney added 10 points, while Spudd Webb and Alden Applewhite each scored nine for the home team.
The Eagles jumped out to a 40-33 lead in the first half and carried a 10-point advantage into the break, but Coastal Carolina fought back in the second half and forced overtime. After a tense extra period, the visitors hit key free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Georgia Southern shot 35.7% overall and 29.0% from the three-point line in the loss.

- Georgia Southern held the Chanticleers scoreless for the next 2:37 of game action, taking its first lead of the half, 31-27.
- The Eagles entered the break up seven points, shooting 43.8 percent from three-point range. Tyren Moore led the way with five from deep, finishing the half 5-for-7.
- The Chanticleers cut the deficit to five points early in the second half, as the Eagles were held to 1-of-7 field goals, 50-45.
- Georgia Southern continued to battle despite finding themselves in foul trouble, as Tyren Moore knocked down his seventh three-pointer of the afternoon and posted a season-high 32 points, 66-63.
- Coastal Carolina tied the ballgame with 1.9 seconds left on the clock and missed the game-winning free throw to send the game into overtime, 70-70.
- Graduate guard Tyren Moore scored a season-high 34 points, two off his career high against Coastal Carolina. Moore shot 12-of-21 from the field and 7-of-12 from three-point line. The Louisville, Kentucky, native knocked down the only three free throw attempts of the evening.
- Moore was joined in double figures by Andres Burney who posted 10 points in the loss.
