
Koulibaly Calls Game, Eagles Sweep Old Dominion Thursday

STATESBORO – Jefferson Koulibaly knocked down his only three-pointer of the night with three seconds on the clock, as Georgia Southern (13-6, 5-1 SBC) completed the season sweep of Old Dominion (5-14, 2-5 SBC), 87-84, on Thursday evening at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center.
Spudd Webb scored 19 points and Tyren Moore added 21 to lead Georgia Southern to victory, extending the home winning streak to eight games this season and 11 dating back to last year. Webb shot 6-of-7 from the field and made key plays down the stretch for the Eagles, while Moore went 7-of-12 with four three-pointers and 3-of-4 at the free throw line. Alden Applewhite contributed 17 points and Koulibaly added seven for the Eagles.
The Eagles trailed 48-39 at halftime before rallying in the second half. Georgia Southern outscored the Monarchs 48-36 after the intermission and outlasted Old Dominion in a game featuring multiple lead changes.
Both sides shot near 50 percent from the field, but Georgia Southern held a slight edge in free throws, converting 19-of-28 attempts. The Eagles also benefited from balanced scoring across their rotation, as four players scored in double figures.

- Georgia Southern opened the scoring as Spudd Webb scored a basket underneath, before Old Dominion used an 8-0 run, 10-5.
- The Monarchs continued to shoot at a high level leading up to the under-eight-minute media timeout, tallying a 12-of-20 line to begin the game, 32-23.
- The Eagles cut the deficit to six points at the under-four-minute media timeout, scoring five of their next seven baskets and holding ODU to a 2:25 scoring drought, 36-30.
- At the break, Georgia Southern saw themselves in a nine-point deficit, shooting 50 percent from the field, while ODU posted a 54.5 percent line from the field, 48-39.
- Georgia Southern was hot out of the break, forcing ODU into an early timeout before taking the lead heading into the under-16-minute timeout, 55-54.
- The duo of Spudd Webb and Tyren Moore continued to take over in the second half, as Moore scored 13 points out of the gate while holding ODU scoreless for over two minutes of action, 72-68.
