
Eagles Fall to South Alabama Saturday

MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia Southern (12-6, 4-1 SBC) men's basketball had its nine-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, as South Alabama (12-5, 3-2 SBC) defeated the Eagles, 87-71, inside the Mitchell Center.
Georgia Southern opened the scoring out of the gates, as Spudd Webb splashed a three-pointer from the wing. From there South Alabama grew its lead, swarming to the basketball and forcing the Eagles into 10 total turnovers on the day.
Four Eagles scored in double figures, as Georgia Southern shot a season-high 45 three-pointers. Webb led the way with 15 points, before fouling out with under two minutes of action remaining, while Nakavieon White poured in 13, and Tyren Moore and Khayri Dunn tallied 11.
South Alabama shot 59.3 percent from the field, including 7-of-11 from three-point range. Adam Olsen (22) and Chaze Harris (21) collected 20-plus points apiece for the Jaguars, as they spread their lead to the largest margin at 19.

- At the break, the Jaguars pushed their lead to 12 points on 57 percent shooting from the field and 67 percent from beyond the three-point line.
- South Alabama was hot out of the gates, scoring the first seven points of the second half, before Jefferson Koulibaly was able to drive through the lane and convert on an easy layup, 53-36.
- The Eagles held the Jaguars scoreless for over three minutes, cutting the deficit down to eight, before South Alabama found a slashing layup to extend their lead back to 12 points, 59-47.
- Georgia Southern wouldn't go away, knocking down consecutive three-pointers to cut into the lead, 79-68.

- The loss snaps a nine-game winning streak which began November 29 against Houston Christian. The Eagles remained perfect throughout the month of December and added two wins to open the New Year on the road.
