
Women’s Golf Goes Low, Sits Second After Round Two at NCAA Lexington Regional

Eagles shot 5-under on the round
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Georgia Southern women's golf is holding steady in second place after firing a combined 5-under par second round on day two of the NCAA Lexington Regional.
A trio of Eagles in Mary Miller, Louise Reau, and Drive Tunwannarux each fired a 2-under (70) in the second round to lead the Eagles to the third-lowest round on the day. The Eagles sit at 5-under on the tournament after shooting an even-par in yesterday's round.
Miller carded a pair of birdies and an eagle on the fifth hole to shoot 2-under on the front nine before shooting even on the back nine. The freshman was bogey-free on the back nine carding par on each hole. Miller has combined to shoot 2-under-par and sits tied for seventh individually.
Reau got off to a strong start shooting 1-under on both the front and back nine to finish at 2-under. The sophomore tallied three birdies and a bogey in the round. Reau has combined to shoot 4-under-par and sits tied for fifth individually.
Tunwannrux bounced back with a stellar second round to sit inside the top-20 at 16th place. She shot 2-under on the front nine with a pair of birdies before shooting even on the back nine with a trio of birdies and bogeys.
Kelsey Chen shot 1-over-par to sit at 11-over-par and LoraLie Cowart shot 9-over-par to sit at 8-over-par. Cowart is currently in 46th place and Chen is 56th individually.
"Couldn't be prouder of the grit and focus this team has shown. We've put ourselves in a great position, and now it's about finishing what we started - one more day, one more opportunity," said head coach Mimi Burke.
Georgia Southern is set for its final round on Wednesday beginning at 8:00 a.m. The top-5 teams and the top individual not on one of those teams, advances to the NCAA National Championship beginning May 16 in Carlsbad, California at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa - Champions Course.
