Imani Moore Qualifies for Nationals in Long Jump, Track & Field Wraps Up Regional Meet

Senior finishes in second in the event with a 6.54m mark, advances to Eugene, Ore.
JACKSONVILLE – Senior Imani Moore broke the school record in the long jump and qualified for NCAA Nationals in Eugene, Ore., as the Georgia Southern track & field team had seven athletes compete at the NCAA East Regional.
Moore, jumping in the fourth heat, broke her school record of 6.36m set earlier this season by leaping to a mark of 6.54m - finishing second overall behind event winner Synclair Savage of Louisville, who paced the field with a mark of 6.64m. She also participated in the triple jump, finishing with a jump of 12.11m.
Kennedy Hood, who also qualified for regionals in the long jump, placed 39th with a mark of 5.75m.
NaJ Watson qualified for the quarterfinals in both the 100m (11.34) and 200m (23.49), finishing out of the national qualifying cut line in both events in her third straight trip to regionals. She ran an 11.33 time in the 100m and 23.07 in the 200m quarters.
Shatalya Dorsett just missed advancing to the quarterfinals but still jumped to second in the record books in the 100m with a time of 11.32.
Leonaya Knox, competing in the 100m hurdles, closed her strong freshman season with a time of 13.61 in the event.
The 4x100m squad containing Dorsett, Emani George, Devine Parker and Watson placed 16th with a time of 44.31.
This is the most athletes the Eagles have sent to regionals in a season. Moore will head to Eugene where nationals are set for June 12-14.
