The Georgia Southern women's golf team is set to conclude its regular season at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic beginning on Tuesday at UGA Golf Course. The 12-team field features three teams ranked inside the top-50.

The Eagles have won three straight matches including the Valspar Augusta and More Than Golf Invitationals, and last competed in a 5-0 match play victory over Missouri. The squad is eyeing its sixth victory of the season this week.

Georgia Southern is paired with Chattanooga and Missouri and will tee off from holes 6-10 beginning at 8:30 am on Tuesday.

Tournament History
The Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic is one of the oldest sporting events in all of women's intercollegiate athletics, with the 2025 tournament serving as its 53rd edition. The tourney began humbly in 1973 as the Georgia Invitational before becoming the Women's Southern Intercollegiates from 1977-94. In 1995, the tourney was renamed in honor of Liz Murphey, UGA's Hall of Fame golf coach and long-time Senior Woman Administrator. Fittingly, the list of golfers who have competed in the event reads like a "Who's Who" of women's golf, including hall of famer's Beth Daniel, Betsy King and Julie Inkster. Recent medalists include current LPGA standouts such as Bailey Tardy, Allisen Corpuz and Gaby Lopez. From 2014-19, the Liz Murphey featured a combination of stroke play and match play in advance of a similar move for the NCAA Championships. The tourney maintained that format for five of the next six springs. The 2020 spring event was scheduled for March 20-22 but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A "fall" version of the Liz Murphey was contested in the fall of 2020 to serve as the 48th "annual" edition of the tournament.
