STATESBORO– NaJ Watson was named Sun Belt Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for her performances at the Texas Relays, the league announced Wednesday.
Watson earns her first outdoor honors since the 2023 season and does so after being front and center in the team's strong weekend in Austin.
In the 200m, Watson finished fifth overall and third among all college runners, sprinting to a time of 23.10 and outranking runners from Texas, Ohio State and UCLA. That mark placed her at #11 in the Division I outdoor qualifying rankings and first among Sun Belt runners.
Not to be outdone, she was a part of the 4x100m team that ran the second-fastest time in the event in school history and the fastest in 14 years, finishing with a time of 44.63 and placing ahead of UCLA and Oklahoma in the event's finals. The 4x100m team is 21st in the outdoor qualifying rankings.
The Eagles will travel to Gainesville for the Florida Relays beginning on Friday.
