STATESBORO - Texas State picked up a 4-0 win over Georgia Southern women's tennis in both team's Sun Belt Conference opener on Saturday at the Wallis Tennis Center.
The Bobcats improved to 10-2 overall and are now 1-0 in the league after the win over the Eagles, who fell to 8-4 overall and 0-1 in the Sun Belt. Georgia Southern will conclude the weekend's Sun Blelt action by taking on Louisiana at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Texas State earned the doubles point from the Eagles with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
The Bobcats then collected the victory with straight-set singles wins at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 singles. The Eagles' Nanaka Kijima was one game away from picking up a win at No. 6 singles over Maria Lora, leading 6-2, 1-6, 5-4, when the match was clinched.
