Chen’s Career Best Leads Women’s Golf in Stacked Puerto Rico Classic

Chen shot 3-under for sixth place
RIO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO – Georgia Southern women's golf wrapped up its opening spring tournament finishing 9th at the stacked Purdue Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday at the Grand Reserve Golf Club.
Freshman Kelsey Chen led the way for the Eagles, capturing a career best finish after shooting even or under par in all three rounds of the tournament. Chen took sixth place shooting 72-70-71 to go 3-under par. In the final round, Chen shot a bogey free back nine and tallied 10 total birdies over three rounds. The freshman finished the tournament second in par 5 scoring (-5).
Mary Miller kicked off the tournament with a strong opening round shooting an even par. Miller tallied six birdies over three rounds and was bogey-free on the front nine in the final round. Louise Reau finished off the tournament with her best round shooting an even par. The sophomore tallied nine birdies in the tournament.
Regina Plascencia fired her best round in the third shooting a 73 and was bogey-free on the back nine. Drive Tunwannarux opened the tournament with her best round shooting a 74 and tallied six birdies in three rounds.
The Eagles finished third in the field in Par 5 scoring (-9). Arkansas took home both individual and team honors.
