THE OPENING TIP
- Georgia Southern men's basketball saw a historic performance on Wednesday evening, as Spudd Webb scored a season-high 32 points en route to a 77-69 victory over Louisiana Tech at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center. Webb's performance also set a new program record for shooting percentage, finishing 13-of-14 (.928). He added four three-pointers, eight rebounds, one steal, and one blocked shot. He produced the 79th 30-plus point effort in Eagles' history and became the 29th player in program history to tally a 30-plus point performance.
- The Eagles have made 96 total three-pointers on the season, posting the second-most made in the Sun Belt Conference. Georgia Southern sits behind James Madison (101) through the first 10 games. The Blue and White are averaging 9.6 made three-pointers per game, with a high of 15 made against Florida Gulf Coast on the road. Graduate guard Tyren Moore leads the Eagles with 28 made three-pointers and is tied for second in the Sun Belt.
- Tyren Moore has produced 1,218 career points in his four seasons in Division I. Entering Saturday's game at Gardner-Webb, Moore sits with 980 points in a Georgia Southern uniform. Moore looks to become the 47th Eagle all-time to collect 1,000 with Georgia Southern.
- Georgia Southern has been the strongest inside the friendly confines of the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center, posting a record of 12-3. In those 15 contests, the Eagles are averaging just under 80 points per game (79.1) and enter Thursday with a seven-game home winning streak in Statesboro. During that stretch, the Eagles tallied the most points scored during the Charlie Henry era, recording 98 against Johnson C. Smith earlier this season.
- Sun Belt Conference play is quickly approaching for the 2025-26 season, as the Eagles enter the final stretch of non-conference matchups. Georgia Southern opens the conference slate at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center, hosting Georgia State (12/18) and James Madison (12/20) before the holiday break. Both contests are part of a doubleheader with the women's program. The Eagles aim to continue their aggressive start to the season, heading into the final three non-conference games against Gardner-Webb, Coastal Georgia, and West Georgia.
