
Webb Shines as Georgia Southern Remains Perfect at Home

STATESBORO – Spudd Webb scored a career-high 32 points and Georgia Southern (5-5) pulled away late to beat Louisiana Tech (4-3), 77-69, on Wednesday evening at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center.
Webb shot 13-of-14 (.928) from the field, setting a new program record for field goal percentage, and added eight rebounds, four assists, and a block for the Eagles. Georgia Southern outscored the Bulldogs 44-42 in the second half and finished with nine three-pointers while shooting 48 percent overall.
Dwayne Williams Jr. added 15 points off the bench, hitting three three-pointers in 18 minutes. Tyren Moore scored 10 points with two steals, and Alden Applewhite chipped in nine points – all in the first half – along with four steals. Shainen Carter anchored the interior with six points, six rebounds, and three blocks.
The Eagles led 33-27 at halftime after a 17-5 run sparked by Webb and Applewhite. The Eagles built a 42-32 lead early in the second half before Louisiana Tech climbed within four multiple times.
DJ Dudley scored 26 points for the Bulldogs, shooting 10-of-17 and making four three-pointers. Sir Issac Herron added 10 points and four rebounds, and Scooter Williams Jr. and Kaden Cooper each scored nine.
The Bulldogs' bench produced 57 of their 69 points, but Georgia Southern held a 32-29 rebounding edge and turned 13 Louisiana Tech turnovers into 16 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After allowing the first points of the game to Louisiana Tech, Georgia Southern knocked down a pair of three-pointers to open a 9-0 run over and held the Bulldogs scoreless for over three minutes.
- Louisiana Tech used a 14-2 run over the next 6:52 of action, taking the lead, while the Eagles were held 1-of-10 over a 4:30 minute scoring drought, 16-11.
- Spudd Webb took over the next three minutes of play, scoring all 12 of the Eagles' 12-0 run to regain the lead, 23-16. Additionally, Georgia Southern held the Bulldogs scoreless over a stretch of 4:48.
- The Bulldogs made a push late in the half, scoring nine points in the final minute and a half to cut the halftime lead to six, 33-27.
- Out of the half, both sides traded baskets, as the Eagles maintained a four-point advantage heading to the under-12-minute media timeout, 42-38.
- Webb drove to the hoop just before the under-12-minute media, tying his season-high with 25 points with 11 minutes remaining in the game, 49-43.
- Dwayne Williams Jr. knocked down a three-pointer following the media timeout to push the Eagles' lead to 10 points, the largest lead of the evening, 62-52.
NOTES
- Spudd Webb led the way for the Eagles offensively, scoring 18 of his 32 points in the first half. The 18 points were tied with Nakavieon White for the most in the first 20 minutes, who scored 18 against Florida Gulf Coast. The 32 points were a new season high for the Hartwell, Georgia, native and set a new program record for field goal percentage shooting 13-of-14 (.928).
- Georgia Southern out rebounded the Bulldogs on Wednesday, 32-29, marking the second consecutive game they held the advantage.
- The Eagles improved to 12-3 all-time and 4-0 this season.
- From the stripe, Georgia Southern collected a 14-for-18 performance, shooting 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.
- Three Eagles finished in double-figures against Louisiana Tech, as Webb led the way with 32, Dwayne Williams Jr. tallied 15, and Tyren Moore dropped in 10.
