Zuri Clavo and
Karlee Wells earned both Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, as announced by the Sun Belt Conference this Thursday morning.
For Clavo, she earned the honor for placing first in both individual events she swam in to help give the Eagles a 153-109 victory over North Florida in Jacksonville last Saturday. The senior won both the 1650 and 500 free with her times of 17:51:79 and 5:13:48. Additionally, she swam a 56:08 in the last leg of her team's 400 free relay, in which they placed sixth. Wells and the dive team participated in a group meet at Florida Atlantic this past Saturday as well. There, she had her best day in the one-meter, winning the event with a career high score of 302.10. She beat her previous best by nearly five points when she set it in 2023, and is the first time she has broken the 300-point mark in the one-meter dive in her career. She was just .05 away from tying the school record in the event, set by Sara Rogers in 2018 and is the first time in her career to receive a weekly award.
For Georgia Southern, it is the first time this season where a swimmer or diver has received a weekly award. The swim team has their final home meet of the year this Saturday (January 25th) against North Florida at noon with Senior Day festivities beginning at approximately 11:45 a.m.
