Four Land on Track and Field All-Time Top Five List

Trio Eagles enter top five in record books, Moore surpasses indoor personal best

GAINESVILLE, Fla.  – The Georgia Southern track and field team opened its indoor season on Friday at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational. Four Eagles etched their names on the all-time top five list including Shatalya Dorsett, Imani Moore, Amara Thomas, and Emily Wheldon

"This weekend as a program was a good start." said head coach David Neville. "I learned a lot about our team and some of the areas we need to improve. We had some highlights in our short sprints and jumps. And we also saw some great runs in the distance events."

Dorsett, in her Eagle debut, opened with her first win of the season in the 60m dash. The sophomore's time of 7.44 marks the fourth best indoor time in program history. Additionally, Dorsett posted a 24.16 to place second in the 200m and to move into fourth all-time.

Freshman Amara Thomas jumped 1.65m for a second place finish and to tie for the fifth best time in program history.

Emily Wheldon moved her way into the Georgia Southern record book in the 3000m with a time of 3:19.35 which marks the third best indoor record.

NaJ Watson opened her junior campaign with a second place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 23.85.

Imani Moore jumped the third best indoor record in program history, leaping 6.11m to earn second place. Moore's mark of 6.11m surpasses her previous indoor mark of 6.06.

Keniya Walker and Alanna Smith finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400m with times of 56.03 and 57.08.

Next Up: The Eagles travel to the Dr. Sander Invitational in New York, NY.
