Eagles open 2025 indoor season
STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern track and field team is set to open its indoor season at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational inside the Alachua County Sports and Events Center in Gainesville, Florida on Friday. Field events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and running events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
The Eagles are coming off three conference titles last indoor season taking the 200m, 400m, and 4x400 relay. NaJ Watson set a personal best of 23.38 to win the 200m and Alanna Smith claimed the 400m with a personal best time of 54.43. The duo also set a meet and school record in the 4x400 with a time of 3:40.99 along with two former Eagles.
"I'm really excited about this indoor track and field season." said head coach David Neville. "I believe that we have done an amazing job as a staff recruiting and developing our program in some key areas. We're returning our top runners from last season in every event, and we have added some transfers and freshmen that will really boost the team. Our conference top performing athletes Naj Watson, Imani Moore, and Alanna Smith are all back and determined to take another leap with this conference and nationally."
