Since JMU joined the Sun Belt in 2022, each school has swept a season. Georgia Southern won both meetings in the 2022-23 campaign, with a 69-65 win in Harrisonburg and a 72-61 win in Statesboro. JMU won both of the 2023-24 meetings - 72-51 in Harrisonburg and 71-65 in Statesboro ... The first meeting in the series came way back on January 10, 1977, when JMU was known as Madison College. The Eagles won that meeting, 100-75. Just two months later, Madison College would officially change its name to James Madison University.
