CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Georgia Southern baseball team fell 13-3 in eight innings to the College of Charleston Cougars on Tuesday evening at Patriots Point.

Georgia Southern got off to a fast start in the top of the second inning when Sean White knocked the first home run of his career, sending a two-run shot over the wall in left-center field to bring home Kent Schmidt and take a 2-0 lead. The Cougars would score four runs in the bottom half of the second inning from an RBI-single, a fielder's choice, and an RBI-double to double the score against the Eagles.

After scoring another run in the home-half of the fifth inning, White was able to cut into the lead with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Schmidt again, leading to a two-run deficit at 5-3.

The Cougars scored two in the bottom of the sixth, then scored six in the bottom of the eighth inning, including a grand slam and a walk-off solo shot, to end the game in run-rule fashion, 13-3.

Joey White took the loss in the contest while Alex Lyon took his first win of the season. Emmett Bice had his second save of the season.

Eagles starter Porter Buursema made his first collegiate appearance and started the game by striking out the side in the first inning. The freshman ended the game with four strikeouts.
