STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern softball (19-11, 3-3 SBC) team's home slate continues this weekend as it hosts Coastal Carolina in a three-game series beginning Thursday at Beautiful Eagle Field.
First pitch of game one is set for Thursday at 6 p.m. and game two is slated for 6 p.m. Friday. The series will conclude at noon on Saturday and all games are scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
The Eagles secured its first series win of the season over Georgia State taking two games to one. Georgia Southern picked up its second conference win on Saturday taking the game 5-1.
Anslie Pettit spun her ninth complete game of the season scattering nine hits and striking out six Panther batters. The Eagles took the lead in the second on an RBI sac-fly off the bat of
Courtney Ball and added insurance in the sixth scoring three runs on three hits to make the final margin, 5-1. On Sunday, the Eagles and Panthers split a doubleheader with the Eagles taking game one 2-1.
Faith Barth led the offense in game two going 2-for-3 and
Janai Conklin and
Katie Perkins drove in the Eagles' two runs in the second frame. GS dropped game three 4-3 to move to 3-3 in Sun Belt Conference play.

SCOUTING THE CHANTICLEERS
The Chanticleers come to Statesboro holding a 18-14 overall record and a 1-5 record in conference play. The Chants opened conference play with a win over Troy before dropping its final two games of the series. Coastal Carolina was swept last weekend against #21/23 Louisiana in Lafayette. In Friday's game Coastal got out to a 4-2 lead but Louisiana outscored the Chanitcleers 5-1 in the final four innings. Indya Smith and Delaney Keith lead the offense batting .338 and .310, respectively. The two have combined for 56 hits including 11 home runs and 34 runs batted in. In the circle, Raelee Brabham leads the staff with a 2.43 ERA in 22 appearances including 83 strikeouts in 101 innings pitched. Coastal Carolina was picked sixth in the preseason poll after finishing seventh last season.
