Statesboro, Ga. --- The Georgia Southern baseball team announced their 2025 Signing Class of 16 new players. The class sees 15 freshmen and a transfer coming into Statesboro for the 2026 season. They include:
Dixon Adams: 6'4 - RHP/IF – Murfreesboro, Ten. – Battle Ground Academy
Carter Blankinship: 5'10 – OF – Tega Cay, S.C. – Fort Mill High School
Ranked as the top outfielder in South Carolina by Perfect Game, Blankinship was a Preseason Atlantic Region All-American and helped lead his team to the State Championship game in 2022. Named team MVP and First-Team All-Region this past season, he hit .396 at the dish with 14 extra base hits, three home runs, and 32 RBIs.
Brady Christman: 6'0 – C/OF – Forsyth, Ga. – Mary Persons High School
A 2024 Perfect Game All-American, Christman never missed a high school game yet and ranks seventh all-time in GHSA history in career doubles. Along with holding his school record for season RBIS, Christman was a First Team All-Region selection from 2022-2024 and was the Offensive Region Player of the Year his last two seasons. The no. 14 catcher in the 2025 class and top-ranked catcher in Georgia, Christman also was a First-Team All State member for his sophomore and junior seasons.
John Davis: 5'10 – OF/LHP – Tifton, Ga. – Tift County High School
A top-40 player in the state of Georgia, Davis also is the no. six outfielder in the state. In his junior and sophomore seasons at Tift County, Davis was not only a First Team All-State and All-Region member, but also the Region 1-6A Player of the Year. As a freshman in 2022, he also was named the Region 1-7A Freshman of the Year. In his three season on the mound, Davis has a 22-4 record with 256 Ks along with a .3465 batting average to go with his 65 RBIs, 18 doubles, and five home runs.
Bennett Edwards: 6'1 – C – Laurens, S.C. – Laurens District 55 High School
An All-Region member in his sophomore and junior seasons, Edwards was named the Lakelands Player of the Year for 2024. He also was an All-State member in 2024 and finished runner up last season in the state tournament. Edwards also got it done in the classroom as he was a part of the National Honors Society and graduated in the top 6% of his 315-member graduating class.
Connor Fugate: 6'3 – RHP – Paintsville, Ky. – Wabash Valley College
The lone transfer for the Eagles on the Signing Day class, Fugate came from the WVC Warriors where he spent a season. Before then, he came from Motlow State where he made six starts on the mound. In his 20.2 innings, Fugate finished with 8.71 strikeouts per contest and a 2.32 WHIP.
Ethan Garrett: 6'2 – RHP – Marietta, Ga. – Pope High School
Garrett is a top 35 player in the state of Georgia and the no. eight pitcher in the state. He is solidified as one of the top arms in a loaded Pope High School roster and has been praised on his fastball.
Mason Gazaway: 6'0 – OF – Marietta, Ga. – Marietta High School
A four-year letter winner at Marietta, Gazaway was named First Team All-Region during his three seasons. He also was on the All-Offensive team for his club squad, 6-4-3 DP.
Will Holder: 6'3 – RHP – Appling, Ga – Harling High School
An All-State member his last two seasons, Holder had a .75 ERA with 85 strikeouts in 65 innings of work his sophomore season. In 2024, Holder was also named to Region 4-3A Pitcher of the Year.
Jake Howell: 6'0 – LHP – Rochelle, Ga. – Wilcox County High School
A 2023 and 2024 First Team All-State member, Howell awaits his final season on the mound for Wilcox County after winning the Region Pitcher of the Year honor just last season.
Kade Kisz: 6'2 – INF – Woodstock, Ga. – Blessed Trinity Catholic High School
Kisz was rated as the no. twelve third baseman in the 2025 class and no. 14 overall player in the state of Georgia. Kisz was lethal at the plate his sophomore season, hitting .436 with 33 RBIs, four home runs, and 15 stolen bags. He also helped lead his team to a deep playoff run in 2023, hitting .600 in the opening three rounds of the state tournament.
Josh Owens: 6'3 – SS/P – Jonesborough, Ten. – Providence Academy
A First-Team All State member in 2024, Owens looks to have another dominating season on the mound for Providence Academy for his senior season. Along with being named the All-Conference Pitcher of the Year last season, he also was an All-District Team member and started for the Super 22 team.
Chance Sobbry: 6'3 – INF – Dexter, Mi. – Dexter High School
Sobbry committed to Georgia Southern as the no. 3 first baseman in the state of Michigan and was named All-Conference, District, and Region for both football and baseball his last two seasons at Dexter High. Sobbry just completed the 17U Prep Baseball National Championships just a few hours away from Statesboro.
KT Thompson: 6'2 – OF/1B - Flowery Branch, Ga. – Cherokee Bluff High School
Named First-Team All State his past two seasons at Cherokee Bluff, Thompson has a blazing .450 batting average. Also on the basketball and football teams, Thompson earned the 2024 Region Player of the Year for his efforts on the diamond.
Frank Wells: 5'10 - MIF – Inlet Beach, Fla. – South Walton High School
A Second Team All-State member in 2023, Wells was also the team's Offensive MVP in his last two seasons. He holds four school records in batting categories and is hitting a scorching hot .435 so far in his career with 84 hits and 18 doubles.
Bruce Yawn: 6'1 – RHP – Statesboro, Ga. – Statesboro HS
No stranger to the Eagles' program, Yawn is a two-time All-Region member just a few minutes away at Statesboro High. Living just a few minutes away from J.I., Yawn is ready to stay home for his collegiate career.

The Eagles start their 2025 campaign in Statesboro for nine straight home games, starting on February 14
th for a series against Western Carolina. First pitch at J.I. Clements Stadium is set for 6:30 pm on that Friday night.
