Statesboro, Ga. --- The Georgia Southern Eagles Swim & Dive Team placed third in their home tri-meet this past Friday afternoon (December 13th). The Eagles fell to East Carolina 208.00 - 91.00 and came up just short against UNC-Asheville 150.00 - 149.00.
To start the meet, Georgia Southern placed two divers in the top four with
Karlee Wells scoring a 260.15 for second place and
Abby Ounsworth at 219.05 for fourth place. Wells also took second in the 1 meter dive with her score of 259.05, her second-best of the season.
The 50 free saw three Eagles in the top six, including
Alyssa Ifill in sixth at 24.76,
Abby Wenham in fourth at 24.65, and
Chiara Alberti winning the event with her time of 23.90. Another event winner came from Aliie Byerly who won the 100 back with her time of 52.66 as it was her first time competing in the event all season.
Ieva Evaltaite took second in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes with times of 1:05.30 and 2:22.92. In the relays, Georgia Southern's top finishers came second in the 200 medley and fourth in the 400 free relays. Finally, in the 100 free, Victoria Kjaerullf and
Grace Drawdy took fourth and fifth, respectively, in their first time swimming the event this season. Full results can be found by clicking the link above.
The Eagles next meet comes in 2025 when they travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for a lone meet against North Florida. The meet is set for 12 pm E.T on January 18th.Â
