Southern Rolls to Wins at VMI

Team posts 4,733 in return to action

LEXINGTON, Va. -
The second-ranked Georgia Southern rifle team picked up a pair of SoCon wins Saturday at the Kilbourne Rifle Range as it rolled past VMI and the VMI women's team with a 4,733 aggregate.

In smallbore, Emme Walrath led the way with a 591 to take the gold. Emma Pohlmann took silver with a 589 and Zahra Gonzalez Mazo and Bremen Butler tied for third with a 584. They were followed by Ella Goldfaden and Tori Watts (583) and Hailey Singleton (565).

In air rifle, Walrath and Butler posted a 597 to lead the way while Watts and Goldfaden tied for third with a 596. They were followed by Gonzalez Mazo (592), Pohlmann (591) and Singleton (590).

The Eagles were led in aggregate by Walrath who had the high score of the day with an 1,188. Butler took second with an 1,181 and Pohlmann placed third with am 1,180 and Watts and Goldfaden tied for fourth with an 1,179.

The Eagles have now won 25 consecutive SoCon matches dating back to a Oct. 31, 2020 loss to UAB at home.

"Abby and I are really proud of the way the girls performed this weekend. All semester they have risen to the occasion and continue to get better every week. They've worked incredibly hard and were able to see another strong road performance. We're really happy for them.
