Reau Claims Individual Title, Women’s Golf Wins The Southern

Eagles win The Southern for the third straight year

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Georgia Southern women's golf secured its second team win of the season and sophomore Louise Reau took home individual medalist honors at The Southern at Savannah Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Georgia Southern shot 294-286-300 (+16) to finish two strokes ahead of second place Campbell and 15 strokes ahead of third place Charlotte for its final tournament of the fall season. The win marks the third consecutive season the Eagles have taken home the team title.  

Reau took home individual medalist honors in back-to-back seasons after claiming the win at last season's tournament. The Beizers, France native came out firing a six-under 66 that featured eight birdies to sit in second place after the first two rounds. Reau shot an even par 72 which included two birdies in the final round to finish in first place. The sophomore led the field totaling 14 birdies. 

Mary Miller recorded her second top-5 finish of the season shooting 70-69-77 (E) to finish in third place. The freshman used a complete performance on day one of competition totaling eight birdies during the first two rounds. Miller recorded her second lowest round of the season in the second firing a 3-under 69 which featured four birdies. 

Regina Plascencia, LoraLie Cowart, and Kelsey Chen all finished inside the top-20. Plascencia used a 2-over 74 in the second round en route to a T13 finish while Chen used a 4-over 76 second round and Cowart a 2-over third round to finish T20. 

Avery Robinson and Karlee Vardas carded tournament best (75) in the first and third round, respectively. Abbey Schimpf recorded one of six eagles in the tournament on hole one in the final round.
