Georgia Southern Ties FGCU on Friday Night

First time the two teams have tied each other in series history

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team battled the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles to a 0-0 draw on Friday night at Pickering Field in Fort Myers, Fla. The Blue and White move to 1-1-1 on the season while FGCU drops to 0-1-2 on the year.

The contest was delayed to start when a lightning delay pushed the start back to an 8 p.m. start. Once the first half began, both teams showed a strong defensive effort, with GS being limited to two shots and FGCU limited to three shots in the first half. Nate Martinez had two saves in the first half to FGCU's one. Play was interrupted multiple times due to the game's second lightning delay and a electrical issue with the lights at the field.

In the second half, both defenses began to clamp down and play aggressively, with both teams taking only one shot each and the play becoming more physical. As the defenses played strong, neither team let the other offense gain any ground, ended the match in a 0-0 draw.
