STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team swept in-state rival Mercer on Saturday, March 4, at the Wallis Tennis Center to improve to 9-3 on the season.
Doubles action started with
Valentin Dun and
Alexandros Roumpis making quick work of their opponents at the No. 3 position, winning by a final score of 6-1.
Pol del Castillo Masich and
Aaron James Williams took the second match at the No. 1 position to clinch the doubles point, 6-3. The match at the No. 2 position was unfinished.
In singles,
Pierre Mouesca was the first to finish off his opponent, winning with a pair of 6-3 scores at the No. 3 position. Roumpis follows that up at the No. 6 position with another victory, with a pair of 6-1 scores to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Del Castillo completed the sweep of the Bears with his pair of 6-3 scores at the No. 1 position, clinching the 4-0 victory for Georgia Southern, and its sixth-straight victory this season.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will host the UAB Blazers on Sunday, March 5, at the Wallis Tennis Center. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
