STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team swept the singles portion of the match against North Florida to defeat the Ospreys, 4-1. The victory over the Ospreys was the first victory for the Eagles over UNF since 2008.
UNF (4-3) got out to an early lead after winning at both the No. 1 and No. 3 positions in doubles, leaving the No. 2 position unfinished. The duo at the No. 1 position won 6-2, and the duo at the No. 3 position won 6-3.
In singles, the Eagles flipped the script and won on four courts, first at the No. 6 position, where
Alexandros Roumpis took down his opponent by a score of 6-0, 6-4.
Pierre Mouesca followed that up with a pair of 6-3 victories at the No. 3 position to give the Eagles its first lead with a 2-1 advantage.
Judson Blair at the No. 5 position defeated his opponent in two sets with a pair of 6-4 victories, and
Aaron James Williams clinched the match for the Eagles with a pair of 6-4 victories in two sets, giving the Eagles its fifth-straight win in the 2023 season.
