Men's Soccer Announces Two New Additions to the Roster

STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team has announced two new additions to the roster for the 2023 season with two transfers, Logan Phipps and Kevin Pierre.

LOGAN PHIPPS
Phipps comes to Statesboro after spending two seasons at Yavapai Community College, a school that competes in the NJCAA. While he was with the Roughriders, he scored two goals and tallied three assists during his two years on the pitch. Prior to YCC, Phipps played center/left back at Durant High School in Plant City, Fla. During his time in high school, Phips was also a part of OceanWay FC UPSL and the Jacksonville Armada Pro Academy, where he was coached by Nawal Gurung. Phipps was named Oceanway FC Player of the Year during his time with the club.

QUOTE FROM LOGAN
"Since I was a kid, playing Division I soccer was a dream of mine. Growing up in the southeast, I was always familiar with Georgia Southern. When the opportunity came, I knew I could not pass up playing in the Sun Belt Conference with a great program, and coaching staff."

KEVIN PIERRE
Pierre arrives in Statesboro after spending the last year and a half at Lander University, the same university that Eagles head coach Lee Squires called home for several years. Prior to playing at Lander, Pierre played at May River High School under head coach Misael Garzon, where he was named the 2021 Class 4A All-State by North-South Soccer Classic. Pierre was also named an All-Region player in 2021 as well as being named team MVP at May River. During his time in high school, Pierre also played club soccer with SC Surf Soccer Club.

QUOTE FROM KEVIN
"I decided to sign and come to Georgia Southern because it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I knew coming here would open up so many doors for my future. The amount of resources available will help me excel as a student and as an athlete. In the end I know this was the right decision for me. Hail Southern!"
