Men's Soccer Announces 2023 Spring Schedule

Men's soccer to take on a rigorous schedule in the spring

STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's soccer team has released its 2023 spring schedule, head coach Lee Squires announced on Thursday afternoon.

"We're very excited to get back into playing soccer," Squires said. "Coming back from winter break is a hard time of year. You're not coming back with a season on the horizon, and the weather is not what you're used to. But we've had five weeks of hard work and the guys are coming together. They've really bought in for the first five weeks, really pushing the boundaries physically to try and improve which has prepared us for the game schedule coming up."

The team will start the spring with three straight road matches, but will not have to go far for the first match. The Eagles will take on South Georgia Tormenta FC at the new Tormenta Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 11, before the team turns its attention to a road trip against Mercer on Feb. 18. The Eagles will play the final road game of the spring season on March 1 against the Savannah Clovers in Savannah, Ga.

Georgia Southern will host five-straight contests to wrap up the spring season, the first one on March 4 against Life University. Four days later, the Eagles will host the Canadian Club at Eagle field on March 10, before taking an extended break. On March 25, the Eagles will host a double header, with Georgia Southwestern and Jacksonville both being in attendance. To cap off the spring season, Georgia Southern will host an alumni game on April 1. All spring matches will be open to the public and free to attend.

Any alumni who wish to be part of the alumni game should join the Southern Eagles FC Alumni Group, linked at the top of the release. This group is designed to streamline communications with all GS men's soccer alumni.
