GREENVILLE, SC - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team came away with a 4-1 victory over the Furman Paladins on Saturday afternoon, avenging a 2-5 loss from the 2022 season.
The Paladins (4-6) were able to take a 1-0 lead early in the match by taking the doubles point from the Eagles. The No. 2 position was won first, but
Laurent Julia Calac and
Matthew Mitchell at the No. 3 position would tie the doubles point up at 1-1. At the No. 1 position, the Furman duo took the 6-4 decision to clinch the doubles point.
In singles, the Eagles swept the four singles matches that were played, with all four matches getting pushed to third sets. Williams tied the match up at 1-1 when he won at the No. 2 position by a final score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, and the Eagles never looked back. At the No. 2 position,
Pierre Mouesca defeated his opponent 6-3, 6(4)-7(7), 6-3 and gave the Eagles its first lead of the day.
Dimitris Paliouras at the No. 4 position win his match 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, and
Pol del Castillo Masich was able to secure the win for the Eagles with his win at the No. 1 position by a final score of 3-6, 7(9)-6(7), 6-4.

The Eagles will take on the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs to finish the two-match road trip through the Carolinas. First serve from Boiling Springs, NC, is set for 1 p.m.
