PREVIEW: Eagles Take On Two in the Carolinas

STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team will take on two schools from the Carolinas in the Furman Paladins and the Gardener-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs on February 25 and 26 respectively. Both matches are set to begin at 1 PM on their respective days.
 
FURMAN OUTLOOK: The Paladins have opened their season with a 4-5 record and are winners of two of their last three contests. The Paladins earned 4-3 victories against Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech while falling 1-6 to UAB. The Paladins are led by Cole Burnam who owns a 5-3 record in singles matches.
 
FURMAN SERIES: The Paladins own a 19-8 record over the Eagles. The last time the two met was in the 2022 season, where the Paladins defeated the Eagles 2-5 in Greenville, SC.
 
GARDNER-WEBB OUTLOOK: Gardner-Webb has opened the season on a 9-2 run and has won nine consecutive matches coming into the Sunday match with Georgia Southern. The Runnin' Bulldogs are led by three individuals who have a combined three losses in singles matches, Eduardo Dias (9-1), Alex Lepine (9-1), and Kim Niethammer (10-1).
 
GARDNER-WEBB SERIES: Georgia Southern owns a perfect 9-0 record over Gardner-Webb, which includes a 4-3 victory in Statesboro from the 2022 season, the last time the two squads have faced off.
 
UP NEXT
The Eagles will host three home matches in four days, beginning with North Florida on Thursday, March 2. After that, the Eagles will host the Mercer Bears on Saturday, March 4, and UAB on Sunday, March 5.
