
Wendland’s School Record Highlights Day Three at CCSA Championships

Action wraps up on Saturday
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Georgia Southern swimming and diving concluded the third day of CCSA Championships with a school record and several more personal bests and season lows.
In the 200 fly, Georgia Southern had four swimmers advance to the evening races, highlighted by freshman Madlen Wendland's school-record time of 2:02.83. Hannah Merrill also advanced to the A Finals with a 2:04.54. Jenna Maloy advanced to the B Finals with a 2:06.61 and Lilly Kasra advanced to the C Finals with a season-best 2:07.43. In the finals, Wendland again broke the school record, this time with a 2:02.55 to finish seventh, while Merrill put up a season-best 2:03.72 to finish eighth. In the B Finals, Maloy swam a season-best 2:03.66 to place ninth overall. Kasra finished 23rd overall with a 2:07.81 in the C Finals.
In the 100 breast, Logan Bellanger swam the fourth-best time in program history with a 1:03:08 to advance to the B Finals. Ieva Evaltaite swam a personal-best 1:04:00 to make the B Finals and Abby Schoppa swam a season-best 1:06:61. Bellanger won the B Finals to finish ninth overall with a 1:02.61, besting her swim from the morning as the new fourth-best time in program history. The effort earned Georgia Southern 20 team points. Evaltaite finished strong on the final lap to place 14th and earn 13 points with a 1:04.12 in the B Finals.
In the 100 back, Emma Scruggs (57.48) and Nikoletta Holt (1:00.05) swam season bests.
The 800 free relay team of Zuri Clavo, Emma Scruggs, Emma Sutton and Carsyn Cosman swam a season-best 7:38.92.
The CCSA Championships concludes with its final day on Saturday. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., with the finals at 6 pm. Final events on Saturday include the 1,650 free, the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 1-meter diving and the 400 freestyle relay.
