Eagles Have Strong Day Two at CCSA Championships

Nineteen season bests and 12 PRs recorded
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Georgia Southern swimming wrapped up its second day of competition at the CCSA Championships in strong fashion, tallying 19 season bests, 12 personal records and three top-five performances in program history.
In the 100 fly, three Eagles set season bests, with two others setting personal bests. Madlen Wendland advanced to the A Finals with a 55.40 in the preliminaries, which was a personal best and the second-best time in program history. Jenna Maloy posted a personal-best 56.46 to advance to the B Finals. Lilly Kasra also advanced to the B Finals with a season-best 56.61. Wendland earned the Eagles 24 points with a sixth-place finish in the finals, posting a personal-best 55.13. That time bested her time from earlier in the day and is now the second-best in program history. In the B Finals, Maloy swam another personal best, this time in 56.03, to finish 17th and earn nine points, while Kasra earned swam a 56.76 to place 24th.
In the 400 IM, Zuri Clavo finished 11th in the preliminaries to advance to the B Finals with a personal-best 4:28.54. Avery Sargeant (personal-best 4:33.1) and Grace Dawdry (season-best 4:35.26) both advanced to the C Finals. Montgomery Dampier posted a personal-best 4:43.82 as well. Clavo set another personal best in the B Finals, swimming a 4:27.11 to place 11th overall and earn Southern 16 points. In the C Finals, Sergeant swam another personal best to place 20th with a 4:30.63 to earn five points for the team. Drawdy swam a 4:36.80 to finish 24th overall.
In the 200 free, all four Eagle swimmers set season bests, with one setting a personal record. Carsyn Cosman advanced to the C Finals with a 1:53.13, which was a season best. Abby Wenham (1:54.46), Emma Sutton (1:54.80) and Emily Jones (2:00.49) all swam their fastest times of the season, with Sutton's mark being a personal best. In the C Finals, Cosman swam a 1:53.67 to place 22nd.
In the 3-meter diving, Karlee Wells scored the fourth-highest total in program history with a 279.10 in the finals to place fifth and earn the Eagles 25 team points. The score was also a personal best. In the preliminaries, Anya Weber set a personal best with a 250.00 and just missed the finals by finishing 11th.
The team of Logan Belanger, Cosman, Sutton and Wenham swam a season-best 1:34.18 in the 200 free relay to place seventh. In the 400 medley relay, the team of Emma Scruggs, Belanger, Wendland and Wenham swam a season-best time of 3:46.22 to place seventh.
The CCSA Championships continue Friday with Day Three. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., with the finals at 6 pm. Final events on Friday include the 800 free relay, the 100 back, the 100 breast and the 200 fly.
