Eagles Clipped by Owls, 5-2

Eagles fall in resumption of Saturday's suspended match

KENNESAW, Ga. - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team fell against the Kennesaw State Owls on Monday in Kennesaw, Ga. The match concluded on Monday morning after being suspended Saturday afternoon due to rain.

In the doubles matches on Saturday, the Eagles (3-3) quickly got on the board with a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 position from Pol del Castillo Masich and Judson Blair. However, a 6-4 victory by the Kennesaw State (5-0) duo at the No. 2 position tied up the doubles matches, and a 6-1 victory for the KSU pair at the No. 3 position gave the Owls a one point advantage heading into singles.

The singles matches were suspended on Saturday as most of the courts were nearing completion, but resumed two days later as the team was returning from Chattanooga. KSU jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after victories at the No. 2 and No. 1 positions, but the Eagles got on the board after Dimitris Paliouras earned a 6-4, 7-5 victory at the No. 3 position. Blair at the No. 5 position started to close the gap between the two squads with his 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory, but the Owls were able to clinch the match with victories at the No. 6 position and the No. 4 position.
