Volleyball Adds Two on National Signing Day

The team welcomed outside hitter Sam Bowron and defensive specialist Mayte Camacho to the 2024 freshman class
STATESBORO– Georgia Southern volleyball head coach Chad Willis announced the addition of two signees for the 2024 freshman class on Wednesday, libero Mayte Camacho (Oviedo, Fla.) and outside hitter Sam Bowron (Longwood, Fla.)
"It's always a great day to officially announce new additions to our Georgia Southern volleyball family. Each year we prioritize finding high-character, talented, and competitive student-athletes and families that we feel strongly will invest themselves holistically in our culture," Willis said. "We are confident in the direction of our program and how this class will continue to help us sustain excellence and compete for championships."

PERSONAL: Born Mayte Beatriz Camacho on Sep. 1, 2006 in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico… Daughter of Larry Camacho and Beatriz Fernandez… Larry pitched at the University of Miami… has an older brother, Brian, who played volleyball at Queens College.

A fiery and passionate competitor, Mayte's technical proficiency combined with her court presence and overall knowledge of the game will be a great asset to our gym.
